Private investigator Paul Ciolino claims Arturo Gatti’s death was not suicide – Boxing news
A private investigator, Paul Ciolino, who was hired by Arturo Gatti’s manager Pat Lynch, has made a staggering revelation as he claimed Gatti’s death was not suicide.
The former two-weight world champion, Arturo Gatti, who was widely known as the Thunder, died at the age of 37. Gatti went in a hotel in Ipojuca, Pernambuco, Brazil to spend his vacations with his Brazilian wife, Amanda Rodrigues and 10-year-old son but
the Canadian combatant was found dead next morning on July 11, 2009.
Gatti’s wife was straightaway arrested with a charge of murder when a strap of her purse was found stained with blood. However, later on she was set free from all the charges as the Brazilian police claimed Gatti committed suicide.
The Chicago-based investigator Ciolino however disagrees with the Brazilian police as he believes it was not a case of suicide.
Ciolino told the media he needs to have a press conference in order to clarify everything. The Brazilian police claimed Gatti was completely drunk and depressed. Therefore, he used the strap of his wife’s purse to hang himself whereas Ciolino reckons it
is not physically possible.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I think that when we get done with the press conference it will be pretty clear it was not a suicide.
It was not physically possible, given the circumstances and their (Brazilian police) theories.”
Ciolino also added that the Brazilian police investigation was ‘half-assed’ and “The autopsy was totally incomplete.”
“They did a lot of things that were not acceptable practice anywhere in the world,” added Ciolino.
Gatti’s case is going to be investigated once again as it was also ordered by the Brazilian government. Ciolino remarked if once it is proved it was not suicide then only Gatti’s wife is left behind, as she was the only one with Gatti that night.
He said, “We don't have to (point any fingers), only one person was in the apartment that night.”
In the end Ciolino claimed he has the proof “which will conclusively lay to rest the mystery surrounding Gatti's cause of death.”
