I would like to know if speech and language therapists work as independent specialist in private practice in your country? Or they work only in healtcare or education organizations?

If there are private speecha therapists, do they work in small business (really specialized only for speech therapy), or in larger companies, together with other specialists (psychologists, GPs, neurologists audiologists etc.)?

Also, what are the way of financing - do clients pay themselvesIves for therapy, or therapists have contracts with different organizations, insurance companies etc. who cover (fully or partially) the expenses of their services?

I am looking forward to any information I can get about private practice in speech and langauge therapy all avoer the world, especially in Europe. Thanks in advance!!

  1. In the US-there are many settigns-

schools, hospitals, therapy companies (with PT< OT, etc)

    individual private practice

insurance pays in some cases-such as head injury/stroke---but will not pay for a condition the person is born with--they must have 'lost' language skills...in the case of early intervention--in my state --families pay a sliding scale copay--and the state picks up the rest
