What if i was sold a vehicle from my father. And we had a verbal agreement with him in front of 2 witnesses that i would finish paying off the remaining(3) payments plus a few hundred dollars. On the second payment if i was going to be late and asked him for a extension to which he agreed. And he decided that he wants to repose the vehicle from me because of an arguement. is this even legal? I want to trade the vehicle into a car dealer for a different vehicle but was wondering if i could legally do this.

  1. You would need to go to court, the witnesses would have to testify and  you would need to show proof that you had made payments to him. Did you pay with checks? If not, did you get a receipt when you paid him?

If you can't or won't go through all that there probably isn't anything you can do since I assume the title is still in his name.

Take a lesson...treat every deal like  business. Just cause you are dealing with friends or family doesn't mean you can't get screwed.

  2. You probably could but you would have to go to small claims court with your witnesses and finish paying off the car.
