Question:

Private school girls vs. public school girls ?

Okay so at the end of next year I'm moving to another province. My parents are thinking about sending me to a private high school. My whole life I've been going to a Catholic school, so I was wondering how different they are. I am not really worried about the academic side of it because I made the honor roll this year. Do the girls there wear designer clothing, are they really rich and maybe stuck-up ? Would they be friendly ? Also since the classes are pretty small, would that affect my social life ?

Thanks to everyone who answered :)

  1. i've been going to a catholic school since kinder-garden don't worry they're not gonna be stuck up. most catholic school's wear uniforms so no one can make fun of anyone else cuz u will all look the same it prob won't affect ur social life but the staff tends to be quite strict.most girls will be friendly but they're will be a few bad apples that think they're better than u but pay them no mind

  2. Well in Private schools they wear uniforms. I wouldn't think so because I'm sure a lot of them care about there grades more then fashion/money, vs public school.

  3. well the only thing im sure of is that they don't wear designer clothing. its a private school. they wear uniforms.

  4. well you some girls are mean and some aren't. you just have to find the right people. most girls wear hollister and american eagle stuff like that. umm no bout the social life thing, there are so many classes it will probably help you. let me tell you something, you are guaranteed to have drama ( rude, soap opera stuff that nobody can hide from.) it sucks but its just something you will have to get used to. i wish you good luck

  5. no not at all :) most private schools wear uniforms, and if classes are smaller, the peeple in the class will notice u and probly wanna be yor friend :) goodluck!!!

  6. Public school I attend there its a huge social life

and its enjoyable and no uniform I love it!

    Hope this helps =P

  7. some girls are friendly and others are not. yea it will probably reduce your social life

  8. i've been to a private schools before, and public schools. Public schools are way better, trust me. not a lot of people in ur neighborhood will be going to that private school. the level of education in private schools and public schools isnt any different. the people you will be spending the rest of ur highschool life with will be.

  9. private schools are better overall.

  10. wait arent you already in private school?

ive gone to public school my whole life and i had a great time but im switching to cathlic school for high school. public school girls are the same as private. their will be those girls who are b*****s and think they are better than everyone else no matter where you go to school or how old you are. you could tour both the schools and see which you get a better feel from. i toured my distract public school and i was with a group of people i knew who were going their that i didnt like that much and i got a bad feeling from the whole thing. I feel more comfortable in the school i am going to. good luck!

  11. Yeah private school is pretty legit but it's not stuck up like the media portrays it to be.

It just has a few rich kids here and there, not all that bad.

  12. I love this question because I am a private school girl (:

It really depends the area you live in. In my area everyone owns designer accessories (watches, purses, shoes, and jewelry), but no designer clothing (they just wear Abercrombie, Hollister, Ralph Laure, or Lacoste). Some girls are stuck up and love to show off their designers. You will probably feel more stuck up girls in a middle class area because their wealth makes them stand out and they want to stand out from everyone. In an Upper Class area, no one really brags because everyone has a designer purse... not just one person.

The classes are small--yes, but this is better because the teachers can focus more on the individual student. As for the small grades, there are usually a lot of sister and brother schools (there are 18 private schools in my area and only 2 public schools). They have dances with all of the other private schools so you will still have as many friends as you did at your old school. I have 15 best friends and maybe 150 other friends.

Classes are harder: in my school if you get a C+ average or below on any class you get kicked out. Plus you usually have to do community service work and sports.

It's fun though! They are more structured than at a public school and they are way more academic. Also, there won't usually be stereotypes because most people are preps (especially if there is a uniform there are no stereotypes). Private schools are super cliquey and gossip is a huge problem. This is because they are smaller so there are three or four big cliques, then everyone spreads rumors because they get bored easily.

I love it though!! I actually have never realized how much I cared about my school until recently.

  13. i've gone to a private school since the third grade (I'm going into 9th) and its really not all that bad...i mean uniforms suck and stuff but kids in private school aren't any different from public school kids... I'm not mean or catty..but they're were other girls who were..just like in any school...personally i want to go back to public school but at the same time i don't....classes are smaller and you won't have a huge selection of friends but you will make a few really great friends that could last a lifetime...it may be hard to adjust to at first but eventually you'll get used to it!

  14. It depends. My parents thought they could send me to a Catholic All-Girls Private School with cheap clothes. You feel a lot more pressure, and yeah, some of the girls are really rich. I've got this one friend, who's really naive, and she was saying "I don't know how people buy things of £5. They all fall apart immediately! It is MUCH better to buy a T-shirt for £400 than for £5" I work a lot harder to keep up: I thought I was pretty smart, but I have to compete, my hair needs to be nice, my skin flawless and beautiful w/o make up, my uniform skirt rolled up, and on non-uniform days, I need to look like I've come out of Vogue or Marie-Claire. But that's because I live in Centeral London. Each area will be different. But since the classes are small, it'll be okay - In my ENTIRE year, I have 18 people and because we were so small last year (each form had 9 people in it), they merged us together. We generally get along - yeah, we have bust ups, but we're generally friends with everyone!

  15. Public school isn't that much of a big deal.

If you had uniforms, then it will be a change in that sense.

Girls, usually, try very hard to impress each other and boys with what they wear. If you don't know what to wear, at first, just go with something neutral like Jeans and a tank top, etc..

    Good luck!

  16. there are mean people in both types of schools. plus, most of the kids in my class get far above average in state tests, because the class sizes are smaller so the teacher can spend more time with you. you get used to the uniforms too.

  17. ok. i have been to a private school all my life till last march..

    private schools:

    strict, uniforms, easily suspended, smaller

    public schools:

get to wear what u want (mostly), alot more laid back, has more money, harder to get in trouble, and alot bigger!

  18. I think public school girls are friendlier then private school girls.

  19. I went to a private school for middle school and now I'm going to a public school for high school. There is a huge difference. Though private school kids may have better, nicer things than lots of public school kids do, they are much more respectful at school. But I have to say...private school kids can get rowdy... sexually.

  20. All school's suck in general.

Private School's are an inferno of CONFORMITY, THEY ARE A BREEDING FACTORY FOR HUMAN CLONES. Stay as far away from the WICKED PLACES AS YOU CAN!

  21. the private school in my town is where all the pregnant schools at my public school come from...

  22. I say go to a public school its a lott more laid back
