  1. it depends what private school but some of them are expensive. there are plently of first class public schools though. it also depends where you live. if you live in a nice town- the public school will probably also be nice and your child with get a great education, but if you don't then you might be risking it. some of the greatest people in the world have gone to public schools in a bad area. visit them first, and check the schools out and make sure it is a great fit.

    hope i helped!

    good luck!

  2. why pay for a private school most public schools are good and they are free persay. i wouldn't use the pay type sure its nice to a point but that is not real life and its good to start them into real life and let them be with their peers and all kinds you hae to let them be themselves also take care.

  3. It depends on the schools really. I went to private school for grade K-8 but now go to public for high school. The schools are excellent around here, but my mom wanted me have a religious education. The private high schools around here offer very little in technology, science, art, music, and such. Check out both schools. If the public is a good school, save the money and go public. Answering another answerer here; colleges don't really care where you went to high school. A lot of colleges give preferences to public high schools as opposed to private college prep ones.

  4. private schools: it's more close knit and you know everyone a little better (i went to a catholic school and i believe that the cost of one year was like $$4000)

public schools: well in grade school i'm not that into it only because (it depends where u live) most of the time there is a lot of anger that is carried from parent to child and that could mean there would be fights between students and ur child might be around other kids who do drugs when they are in grades 5-8

  5. Private school is much better, public the kids arent pushed to learn and more drug, gang influence.

  6. Go public. Private schools are one of the things all experts say parents waste their money on.

  7. I would think that if you are looking into a private school for non religious reasons, that you would want to visit the schools in question and talk to other parents.  Depending upon the quality of education and levels of disciplinary problems in the public school, you may decide it is worth the money, or you may find that it is not.  I wouldn't expect there to be too much difference in academics at the kindergarten level, but sometimes it is almost impossible to gain entrance to a private school somewhere in the middle of a child's elementary years.  And of course, the cost of private school is prohibitive for many people.  What those costs are vary drastically from school to school, and you may find that scholarship monies or tuition assistance are available.  When investigating the costs of a private school, remember to ask whether you also have to buy the books, what the cost of uniforms are, etc.  In religious schools there are often extra fees for those who are not members of that particular faith group or church as well.

Many say that the public schools expose kids to "real life" issues of dealing with a wider variety of people and that this is good for them.  It is true, I would say, that it does, but I am not so sure that it is always good for them.  Yes, we all have to learn to deal with people who are rude, arrogant, violent, bullying, etc.  We all have to learn to make adjustments to get along with people who do not act as we expect or come from a different tradition or environment than we do.  First, it is silly to think that kids are not exposed to such things in private schools. Secondly, I question how placing a child in an environment where he is likely to become a victim of abusive behavior that public schools are often unable to keep under control is good for him.

On the other hand, not all public schools are that bad off.  Many have excellent records regarding discipline and strong policies on bullying and so forth.  Only you can decide how much is too much for your child, and whether the public school you have the option of sending him to exceeds it.

  8. From my experience (I've been to both types of school as a kid), private schools will teach your child more manners, less bullying and higher quality education.

  9. i go to a private high school...its about 13,000 a year for everything including tuition, but its one of the top high schools in mass. but your wasting your money if you pay for private elementary and middle school. Colleges only care about high school...and college is all that matters.

  10. I went to both public and private schools and they both have advantages and dis advantages. Public are much cheaper but the classes/sections has bigger number of pupils which is not  good for an average pupil. if your child needs a much detailed, advance and focus learning, invest on private school. plus private schools offers security and much disciplinary method of learning. with public schools, it works better with children who have a strong moral values and who do well in large number of pupils. Goodluck!

  11. I did attend a private school for high school, and it was great.  The classes are typically a lot smaller and there's a bigger sense of community than just going to class with the kid who always wears the yellow sweatshirt and chews Bazooka gum.

There is a difference.  I found for me, to be very beneficial.  Because the classes are typically smaller, I felt that the teachers gave me more individualized attention.  Better able to figure out what I needed than let's say a teacher teaching a class of 30-40 students where my classes had about 10 students.

If you want your child to have individualized care, go private
