Private tutor credit?

I heard that some people do get legitimate high school credits not from their own school, but from like a private tutoring place. Can someone tell me more about this? Like if i asked my school councilor would they help me? or would they be like "no you go to school for that"?

The only way possible that I see is that they get work credit for some program as such as Cooperative Education./
