  1. Private...definitely.

  2. I would have said private but sometime your child may feel inferior to the others... But after all i went to a public school where you learn how to face life due to the harsh conditions.... You also learn  *\##*/**!!! in the public school ...

  3. private. the education is better.

  4. As a teacher, I have worked in both private and public schools. I can say that professionally for me, I have preferred public education. It, of course, is situational, depending on the schools themselves.

I think something important to keep in mind is WHAT is it we want kids to learn? Yes public school teachers are overloaded with standards, high class sizes, etc...definitely downsides to public ed.

I noticed someone earlier mentioned that in the private school you eliminate lower socio-economic families because they can't pay for private education. Is this something you want to teach kids? We can pay for education because we have more money, which somehow elevates our status to being better people? I think education is more than just book learning, etc. Don't get me wrong, I think kids should have a solid academic education. However, there is SO MUCH more that kids should learn in this world-and being in a diverse environment is a huge piece of that. Diversity being ethnicity, socio-economics, family backgrounds, etc. I find that most private schools are not as diverse.

My neices have attended both private and public schools. While neither is perfect, I find that their public school educations are giving them a more rounded experience, which incidentally prepares them for life. Academics important, absolutely? Being a viable, aware citizen helping shape the world? Imperative.

  5. It really depends on the area in which you live. I mean, if it's a good community, check out the public school, because the kids are probably more focused on school, and the teachers are probably more involved in getting the kids a good education. If you want your kid to have a more structured, and in-depth education, see what the private school has to offer. Things also depend on your childs specific needs.

  6. i would prefer private but everyone can't afford private bu then private will have your kid sometimes with a lack on socializing!!

    GOD BLESS!!

  7. There are going to be pro's and con's to both obviously, but I would prefer my child to go to a private school.  I was a public school teacher for 5 years and I think that teachers in public schools are overloaded with students and "state standards" and there aren't able to spend much individual time with students.  Private school classes are typically smaller and they cater to the parents and not the state so you have a lot more say about what goes on.  Also with private school you have only family's that can afford them so you eliminate a lot of the problems that come with lower socio-economic issues... not to say that you won't replace those with other issues?!

  8. I think it depends on where you live and the quality of either. I grew up going to public school, which in my area far out ranked the private school; who averaged at least a year behind when tested.

However , my husband went to a boarding school, which is one of the top in the country, it doesn't even compare to the public schools in the area.

I think you should do your research, assess the costs and what you can afford, then go from there,.

  9. Depending on the area, public schools are head to head in quality to head in quality. I had a few friends who went to private school all their lives, then went to a public university. I noticed that afew of them had a hard time adjusting. 3 of my little brothers also went to private school for a while and my mother and i also noticed that unfortunately, some of the parents can snooty (which is sad to say) and they tend to form little clicks and shun working mom's. I thought it was so weird b/c we're in such modern times now!!!! Last but not least, I throughly enjoied public school because of the diversity...which you will definately not find a private school.
