  1. Okay, I had that shock too at 13 and never again until I was an adult!!!!  I wore a bathing suit anytime I had to go for a physical :-)  I had a male doctor, was on my period, mom was in the room but the doc just felt around in there with his hand and also in the other hole which scared me half to death. I hated the whole experience it was completely awful.

  2. First and foremost, dont slap the doctor! They are there to help you. And keep healthy so you don't die early. Preventing something before you feel something wrong is a lot better then waiting til something is wrong when it is a lot harder to fix, or cant be fixed like cancer.

  3. I'm 13 to but not a girl doctors do this to make sure there is nothing going wrong inside your body during puberty.

i had to have one and so did all of my friends

  4. you will be ok read what the other girls say drs dont look 'down there' unless a girl of your age has a ladies condition or a problem, everyone feels shy about their privates, even adults, but Dr needs to find out what it is and help you. you will be fine just know they have dealt with thousands of girls your age and seen lots of bottoms and nothing shocks them. if you were there with your mom, the dr will have told you what they are checking you for. You will be fine they will hold your hand . and  you will be covered in a sheet only the dr will  check you over, and its done in a minute.

  5. You don't say whether you've started menstruating or not.  If so, then the doctor needs to start a yearly exam to make sure all is "working" correctly.  The check to make sure your uterus and ovaries are of normal size, they do a pap smear to make sure there are no infections.

Yes, you can get an infection even if you are not sexually active.  Sometimes the body doesn't clean itself out properly, especially if you continually use tampons throughout your period.

The first appointment will be very uncomfortable and scary!  Just keep in mind that the doctor is a professional and that is his/her job. If you feel more comfortable with a woman, then tell your Mom that and find a woman doctor.  I personally have had more luck with the male doctors.  The females I've had were not as "gentle".  The male doctor I have now makes sure he is telling you exactly what he is going to do while doing the exam.

As for the breast exam, they are just feeling for abnormal lumps, once again, nothing to be concerned about....very professional!

  6. What you're describing sounds more like an annual pelvic exam for adult women, not a regular physical for a 13 year old.  When I was your age, I never had to have any kind of physical that involved changing into a gown or a doctor looking "down there".  The only reason a doctor should need to do an exam or look down there is if you are having problems with your period or you are sexually active.  Otherwise, it's really not necessary.  When you turn 18 or become sexually active you need to get a pelvic and breast exam.  If everything is going alright with your period and you aren't having any pain, you should NOT need an exam like this.

  7. well your lucky i went to the doctor last year for that  exzact same thing i tried to get them not to  do it but i had to i was screaming and crying but it only takes a few seconds i recomend just getting it over with

  8. its called a physical.

    People need it yearly.

Dotn be scared. It will be okay

  9. they will probably just check you for breast cancer, and maybe give you a pap smear they usually don't give you those, until you are sexually active or going on birth control pills. about the breast cancer check, that will be completely fine, don't worry about it (it will be a girl, you can ask for one if your doctor is male) they have seen soo many b***s, they really aren't looking at you, so don't take it that way. they are just doing their job. everyone has to get it done i have had several

  10. just to make sure everything is ok, they will want to do a breast exam, and a pelvic, 13 does seem awfully young, but you might have a family history of problems, so they want to make sure you are growing healthy to avoid the problems your mother, aunts, cousins, or grandmothers might have had, relax, and i'm sure your mom can stay in there with you if u want her too, and it should not be the doctor alone with you ever, there should be a doctor and a nurse present always.
