what are the pros and cons of privatization and what affect does it have on tax payers

Before I answer let me be honest and say I disagree with Privatisation.

On the plus side, it takes the economic burden off the taxpayer by thr sub contraction of basic services such as garbage pickup or prison management by bidding out the jobs to the lowest bidder.  There is still a cost but it is reduced.

Of course the downside is there is less oversight in these areas because they are no longer gov. agency. Not such a big deal with garbage pickup , but running a prison without proper oversight could lead to unfortunate results.
