  1. hmmm protein supplements maybe..

    iron... not sure...

for me its hard finding a variety of food to eat thats affordable.lol.

  2. i don't know to many cons about it so i'm not sure if this will help, but i turned vegetarian about 2 months ago, and i feel so happy in myself like i'm doing something really good.

I thought i'd miss meat but i don't at all, theres still so many different things to try and it tastes so much better knowing that something hasn't been slaughtered for it.

& fyi, nothing can beat veggie burgers from burger king ;D

good luck and i hope you do it!!

    xx

  3. There's no such thing as a protein supplement.

You'll have to look creatively to foods for calcium, protein and such.

Calcium does come in supplements, but get one with Vit. D in it, because that is required to metabolize it.

Beans, actually, will have a lot of protein and fiber. Fiber shouldn't be hard for vegetarians to find, though.

  4. Im really happy you are considering become a vegetarian ~~ but yes there is some information you need to know first...But if you eat the right type of foods..you won't need to take vitamins =D~~as many vegetarians don't...

Well obviously it will be harder to go to a restuarant and have a wide range of choices..But still vegetariansm is growing in popularity as more and more people are becoming vegetarian :D And anyway you get usede to it ..I've been one for 8 years~~

besides it being difficult to find foods when eating out publicly.. there is not many cons about it.

There are many vegetarian cookbooks out there and  you can easily cook your own foods :D

however I think there is many Pros~~

LIke of course without meat you will healthier if you don't overload on junk food instead :D:D

~ Many say there is a reduction in health problems~ such as high cholresterol and some cancers~~..

~ You are saving many animals from getting killed and mistreated by not supporting the people who are doing this...gradually as more and more become become vegetarian  they numbers of farms and animals being bred to be killed as meat will decline.

~People who eat too much meat often have too much protein diet causes loss of bone calcium. Meat eaters generally get far too much  protein than they need or can use..

** People eating meat causes destruction of natural habitats , as a lot of land is cleared for the use of farms.. the animals need plants to eat aswell..thus more environment is wasted by getting the food for the animals..when we could just be eating the plants ourselves...

~waste of water!! in australia we are in a drought > > water is a precious resource!!

each person who becomes a vegetarian makes a difference!! they might not think so but all together they are!

So I strongly enoucrage you to become one :D

best of luck in you decision~~!!

  5. The Negatives -

    - Most restaurants, hospitals, airlines, don't provide many choices for vegetarians.

    - Putting up with uneducated meat eaters dumb coments, or questions. You will not get much of this off line btw, mostly just on YA.

    - If you don't educate yourself on what makes up a proper vegetarian diet you can get yourself into trouble. One example is the person who uses vegetarianism as a cover for anorexia.

    - When your 52, like I am, you will feel left out of the conversation when your friends start talking about taking their pills for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart conditoins. They also get to see their nice doctor more often then I do. :-p

You don't have to take any vitamins if your eating eggs and dairy too. If your going vegan it would pay to take a B12 vitamin pluse iron, to be on the safe side. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and I take a one-a-day multi vitamin for the heck of it, just like most meat eaters do.

  6. The only con's are its difficult to go just with veggies, grains, beans, & nuts, etc if you socialize much.

Plant protein is much more abundant and healthier.

  7. The only cons I can think of are there are some people out there that will not understand and may say things to you that are not nice about it.  And sometimes going to someones house for dinner there might not be much to eat.  Luckily that has only happened to me once.

    I don't take any vitamins.

  8. The positive things for me is the food is much tastier, much healthier, and cruelty free. Also, I got rave reviews from my doctor about my health. The only negative thing for me is the convienience. On the road, or going out to eat you have to check online ahead of time to see what meals are vegetarian friendly. But, as a vegan I have a harder time than when I was a vegetarian. Thats the only con of being a vegetarian but, after a while, you get the hang of it and know which places are vegetarian suitable and which restaurants to stay away from. I highly recommend becoming a vegetarian!

  9. Pros:

Healthier (if you do it correctly)

    Vegetarians typically live longer.

They don't get the hormones that are injected into the animals that meat eaters eat.

Less risk of heart attack and obesity.

It saves animals from needless and cruel death.

Cons:  IF you have children and want them to be vegetarian as well, it is hard as heck to keep them out of McDonalds, BK, and other fast food joints.

    2.  Your family aunts, cousins, grandparents etc or people like that may not understand.

    3.  If you have children who are in public school and your child is on free or reduced lunches, packing a lunch is more expensive than buying the school lunch for nothing or in my childrens (who is on reduced lunches) pay 40cents.

Oh the biggest caution that I have is this:  A vegetarian diet isn't necessarly the healthiest diet.  Well, yes it is exceptionally healthy if done correctly.  However French fries are not healthy at all, they are vegetarian.  In fact a list of unhealthy vegetarian foods might include

    Most candy

    pop

    white flour bread

    white flour pasta

    beer

    creamy salad dressings

    any fried foods, butter

any kind of Jiffy mix (has lard in it)

    energy drinks

Get the picture:  You are not limited as you can see to produce section, but be careful!
