I'm just curious about Anorexia and Bulimia. Teachers and Doctors give you a diagnoses on how bad it is and everything else but I want to know about it from people who know what its like from experience.

No flames / haters or whatever please I just want a better understanding.

Please help ! Thanks.

  1. Last year, I was anorexic for a period of time. But I got out of it. Many young girls do that.

I can honestly tell you that it was horrible. For so many reasons.

First, I had stopped eating so the color had gone from my eyes and I was tired, weak, and depressed and angry all the time. I couldn't focus that much in school and was very depressed about eating something.

I did lose a bit of weight...that's what people told me, but after those period of months that I did lose the weight because of excersizing every day and starving...I gained it all back.

You WILL gain the weight back if you EVER get out of anorexia.

Have you ever seen survivors? They are often made fun of because they gained back all the weight they thought they should lose. Some great examples of that are the actress Christina Ricci.

Bottomline, I'm not going to beg you not to do it. But I will tell you that you won't get results very fast, you'll most likely gain alot from starving at first, and if you DO even continue to starve, you will get thinner but the emotions aren't worth it. And then, if you survive, you'll be fatter than you were before.

Alot of people don't show you the "ugly" side of this disease.

  2. Hi My friend, years ago was an anorexic and it was serious. Anorexia is an illness, so is Bulimia. You don't just get over it and it doesn't just go away. It's partially caused by a distorted body image and largely about control or lack there of in ones life. it usually starts with a diet to loose a few pounds. My friend T had an over regimented life at home and found that her body was the one thing she could control. She was so successful with her initial weight loss that she kept going and the more upset she got with her home life, the more determined she got to loose weight. She never thought that she was thin enough. Even after we could count every bone in her body. SHe damaged her heart with the yoyo weight loss. Your heart is a muscle and when you starve yourself and loose muscle, not just fat, it comes off the heart muscle too. She damaged her throat from all the throwing up and she was never healthy again. You get weak because you body has no fuel to function.

I understand that some girls have issues with their changing body's at puberty and your body doesn't develope if you're starving it and you don't get your period either.

It's just a serious and dangerous illness that can destroy your life. Please don't go there and if you feel lost in this way, seek help.
