Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 gets a release date
Fans of football simulation games can rejoice as Konami have finally confirmed the official release dates for their jewel of a football series, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012.
There was plenty of speculation surrounding the exact date and with PES 12’s fiercest competitor, FIFA 12, making all the headlines recently, it is refreshing to hear from the almost forgotten footy title.
According to the developer, the game is set to hit shelves in the United Kingdom and all along Europe on the 14th of October. It will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, but there has been no confirmation of any PlayStation 2 or
PlayStation Portable versions of the game.
The past few years have seen Pro Evolution Soccer fall behind Electronic Arts’ resurgent FIFA series, with the latter gaining more popularity among gamers since David Rutter took the helm there. Known for its gameplay, and lack of licensed clubs, the game
had a hardcore following but it seemed that FIFA’s presentation and constant annual improvements took it a touch above the old favourite.
The game is now marking its return with improved AI, both for the player’s team as well as the computer controlled opponent. Another new feature is the ability for a gamer to control more than one player at once.
Using the right analogue stick, gamers can manoeuvre another player on the field in any direction they want, though it does run the risk of having a number of gamers ending up cross-eyed, seeing how they have to keep any eye on both players.
Konami were boisterous as they claimed their latest title not only be the most advanced football game in their series, but in the world of football simulation games as well.
The team leader for PES Europe, Jon Murphy highlighted the list of new features, “The additions we have made in terms of Teammate Control, Active AI and Off the Ball Control and elevate the level of play to new heights. No other game allows users so much
control over their team, and PES 2012 ensures that the days of gaps in defence and shouting at teammates to make a run are long gone.”
So footy fans, mark down the 14th of October on your calendars, or if you are still not sure, Bettor.com will have a comparison of both games when they release, to make your life that much easier.
