Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 or Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, who won the Japanese Sales Charts dogfight?
Pro Evolution Soccer, or PES as every gamer affectionately calls it, topped the sales charts in Japan for the previous week, yet with competition coming from the likes of Namco Bandai’s Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, did it manage to hold on to the top spot
for another week?
10. Dragon Quest Collection: selling more than a quarter of a million units since its release, the Dragon Quest Collection for the Nintendo Wii did another week of solid business at the charts managing to hold on to a top 10 spot for another
week at least.
9. Minna no Rhythm Tengoku: ‘Minna’ means ‘love’ if one was to translate it into Pashto, but that is irrelevant. What is relevant is the fact that the game managed to sell another 13,202 units and took its overall sales figures in the region
to staggering 505,315-units sold.
8. Class of Heroes Final: a testament to the fact that Sony’s PlayStation Portable still has some life in it yet is the Acquire published title, Class of Heroes Final. Moving 16,904 units in its first week in Japan, the title earned itself
a place in the top 10 of the charts.
7. Dead Rising 2 Off the Record: Another title making its debuts, and there were quite of few of them, was Capcom’s light-hearted zombie sandbox game, Dead Rising 2 Off the Record, which saw the return of the original Dead Rising’s protagonist,
Frank West.
The game is set in an alternate timeline to the true sequel, Dead Rising 2, as former Moto-Cross Champion, Chuck Greene, is replaced by the Frank West. The map has been expanded, as well as the number of unique ways one can enjoy getting rid of the zombie
horde.
It enticed 16,913 gamers to fork their cash out for the game.
6. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon: the Xbox 360 version of the air-combat simulation game managed to do a fair bit of business in Japan, which is impressive as the Xbox 360 tends to sell less than Sony’s outdated PlayStation 2 console in the
area.
However, 20,523 Xbox 360 users took to the skies in its opening week.
5. Forza Motorsport 4: Pushing the limits of the Xbox 360 in terms of graphics and providing a huge line up of finely polished cars, it is no wonder that the racing simulation title managed to sell an impressive 24,854 units.
4. AKB1/48 If I Loved an Idol in Guam: We do not know about Idols in Guam, but it seems that the people of Japan love this game as another 34,114 units sold took the game’s overall figure to 270,701 units sold.
3. Winning Eleven 2012: spending only one week at the top, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 has already fallen down to third place, which can only mean one thing.
2. Just Dance Wii and 1. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon: debuting at number two is the rhythm game, Just Dance Wii while the PlayStation 3 version of Ace Combat takes the number one spot selling a staggering 149,470 units.
