Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) 2012 sells over 250,000 units in its opening week in Japan
World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012, more commonly known as Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 in North America and Europe, managed to sell over 250,000 units in its opening week in Japan.
Yet was it enough to take it to the top of the Japanese Video Games Weekly Sales Chart?
10. Wii Sports Resort with Remote Plus: selling an impressive 15,338 units in the charts, it seems that the Japanese audience just cannot get enough of the Wii Sports Resort experience. Though to be honest, the Remote Plus may have something
to do with it.
9. Rhythm Heaven: Another Nintendo Wii game in the charts Rhythm Heaven managed to rack another 10,731 units of games sold as it spent another week in the top ten of the sales charts.
8. Rage: it may have made a strong debut in the United Kingdom, but it seems the Japanese market has taken a lot less enthusiastically to the post apocalyptic first-person-shooter as it only managed to amass 11,320 units worth of sales;
that too in its opening week.
7. Dragon Quest 25th Anniversary: Famicom & Super Famicom Dragon Quest I-II-III:
If the reader managed to read the name of this game in its entirety then he is probably exhausted and all he needs to know is that the Wii title sold 15,338 units.
6. Dark Souls:  The game may have been in the top three in the charts for the previous week, but the brutal and unforgiving gameplay seems to be disagreeing with many in the gaming community as it fell three places from its last week’s position.
It did however; manage to sell 15,853 units in the process.
5. Eiyuu Densetsu: Ao no Kiseki and 4. Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends:
The first game is one of two PlayStation Portable titles in the chart and was last week’s number one selling game, while the second game was the runner-up for the previous week but managed to sell just enough units to keep it ahead of Eiyuu Densetsu.
3. F1 2011: The top three spots for this week were all taken by debutants starting with Codemasters’ F1 2011, which managed to sell an impressive 26,574 units.
2. AKB1/48: Idol to Guam de Koishitara: the highest rank PlayStation Portable game for the week, AKB1/48 managed to sell an immense 236,587 units in the charts, which means that a certain football simulation game is number one for the week.
1. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2012: has announced itself to Japan in quite some fashion as it managed to sell an astonishing 272,036 units in the region during its opening week. It may not be the same level as FIFA 12, but it was enough
to take it straight to the top spot in Japan.
