Question:

Pro-Life and Murder?

Why is it that pro-life campaigners constantly tell women who have an abortion that they are murdering their child?

If you look at the legal definition, a person is required to be born in order for them to be murdered- so terminating a pregnancy can never be considered murder (even at a very late stage during the pregnancy- whether late term abortion is ethical or not is irrelevant, it is still not considered murder under law). I am therefore wondering why people use this line to justify their stance on abortion?

Just so I don't get attacked for supporting late term abortions- I want to make clear that this isn't my point. While I am pro CHOICE, I do believe late term abortions should be avoided. However, the point is that abortion isn't murder, whatever your view on it actually is.

  1. Such people clearly don't understand the definition of the word "murder."

  2. Propaganda. Most anti-abortionists are extremely emotional people and very sensitive to propaganda. They think they're making a stronger case for themselves by terming abortion 'murder', when in fact all they're doing is showing the rest of the world what irrational and illogical people they really are.

  3. Where I come from from a legal point of view a lot of things were legal.

In fact many many things. Your limit was only your imagination and your motivation to induldge yourself in and discover your dark side.

  4. (You probably don't believe in God but...)

In God's eyes terminating the life of an unborn is murdering it. The baby was "fearfully and wonderfully made" by Him not to be destroyed by the woman He blessed the child with. It is murder, maybe not in the world's eyes, but to the one who gave the child life, it is.

  5. I am a male and support pro-choice platforms.  However, the pro-life population considers life to begin at inception.  There lies the difference.

  6. The feel the shock value gives more validity to a flawed argument.

  7. anti choicers don't care much for rationale and the law. most of them are motivated by some fascist form of religion they feel gives them the right to tell others what to do.

  8. You know, I don't know if I am pro choice or pro life.  At the age of 17 my mother forced me to get an abortion, something I still, 10 years later have not forgiven her for.  It is something that plagues me, even when I see children.  I think that it should be a womans choice but at the same time I see it as killing a life form, maybe not murder, but you are killing a form of life.
