Question:

Pro-Lifers, what do you think of the slogan "Celebrate Life"?

Background: I'm seeing a disturbing trend in general in some factions of the pro-life movement toward a "common-ground" idea. It shows a lack of understanding about what abortion is---the evil taking of innocent life. It would be like picketing a n**i concentration camp with signs that say "We understand that you might have your reasons, but..."

For example, I went to an art fair recently in an extremely liberal town. I was very happy that there was one pro-life booth amidst all of the Planned Parenthood, PETA, and Obama booths. I got some balloons from the pro-life booth for my boys and was looking forward to making a statement as I went around amongst the aging hippies.

I was extremely disappointed when I blew up the balloons and they simply said "Celebrate Life." Celebrating life is a laudable goal to be sure. However, no one would ever guess that these balloons represented the pro-life movement. It was like someone went out of their way to find the least offensive and least controversial slogan they possibly could find. I had no idea that the art fair would have all of these political booths, or I would have proudly worn an "Abortion Kills Children" t-shirt or "Abortion Stops a Beating Heart."

How can we compromise with the executioners in the face of the slaughter of the innocent unborn?

I'm interested in your thoughts. Agree or disagree?

  1. I can sum up your statements with one of my own favorite sayings.

    "Life Is Great, Society Sucks!"

  2. I'm not pro-abortion, but I do think that being pro-life to this degree is unrealistic.  Sorry.

The people in any and all of those booths had every right to be there; particularly if it was a privately held event.  They also had a right to express their positions as they saw fit, within the law of course.  "Celebrate Life" wasn't extreme enough for you?  Sorry to hear that.  Why didn't you take it up with them?

Who cares about the fair, or the balloons?  Why don't you just wear your t-shirt when you, say, go grocery shopping?  Better yet, don't ever have an abortion.  You're already teaching your children your belief that it is wrong.  I don't get your disappointment.  What did you hope to achieve?

  3. I agree with you but doubt that these balloons would alter any opinions anyway.  People who support the right to kill unborn humans know deep down that it is wrong and akin to murder but choose to ignore their gut in favor of being allowed to do whatever they please despite the harm it causes another..

  4. If i was there and had my own pro-life booth I would have made balloons that said "abortion is for wh***s" (and here come the thumbs down) but if your not prolife I don't believe you belong here at this question. Yes I agree with what your saying I mean look at the statement that I just made, I'm gonna get tons of disagreerers, that is going to show you exactly why the balloons only said celebrate life.

POW: I celebrate life, I'm living my life and my daughter is living hers. :)...and I'm pro life

P.S. Obama is not against abortion

  5. Seems like the balloon is right. Pro-lifers don't actually celebrate life, just the unborn.

  6. Not everybody is as willing as you to "create drama."  Now that sounds negative, and I don't want you to think for one second that what you're willing to do is wrong.  I am also on your side of the fence... I have a McCain sticker on my car (only one is a 20 mile radius) and I am very clear and outspoken with what I believe in... however, not everybody is willing to do that.

I also tend to look at the positives in any situation.  Instead of critiquing the balloon, I would be congratulating the booth for being there in the first place.  I would have called that organization and donated some money to their program.  I would have offered to volunteer at a similar event next time.

Also, instigating a fight, or drama, is not the best way to debate an issue, or promote change in people.  Change happens slowly and with repetitive efforts.  We should all celebrate life!  It is a peaceful positive image.  If the abortion clinics prefer to use derogatory images, or disgraceful quotes, let them... I like the quote "celebrate life."

A small part of me agrees with you... but just a small part.

  7. Very fascinating story but I'm sorry I'm not believing your question....it has too many holes in it.

    For example......

Obama is not for abortion.....as a matter of fact he's against abortion.

What he said was while Roe vs Wade was the Law in the USA he would uphold it.....as the President of the USA is supposed to do.

  8. How can we force pro-lifers to adopt each and every single child that isn't wanted, not aborted and ends up in an abusive home or orphanage?

Would you rather hear and see news stories about how children are tied up in basements or abused because they were hungry and wanted something to eat? The fact that they lived to see such horror and you did nothing about it must make you proud.

Abortion wasn't the right choice for me, but I had the choice. Stay the h**l out of my uterus and worry about your own.

BTW- reversing Roe V. Wade would only hurt women who have been raped and then forced to bear the child. This would hurt women who need to have one to have their lives saved. Whores aren't the only ones getting abortions. Perhaps "Abortion is needed to prevent close-minded a******s from living" would be a better slogan?

  9. Why would you want to wear such an INFLAMMATORY t-shirt that would offend so many other patrons? "Celebrate life" sounds much more positive and a much more productive way to display your personal beliefs as I think we ALL want to celebrate life. Who could argue with that concept?

  10. I think abortion has been a divisive subject for long enough and it is about time people started working toward finding common ground.  That is what would be best for America.

  11. Weak & does not get the message across, you would think they are afraid of offending liberals but why, sence they do not care in the least of offending conservatives, why is it that the conservatives must always bend to the will of the liberals & their PC c**p.

I am "pro-life" & very proud of it.

  12. Life begins at conception, live with it.

I was just reading an article that said Obama voted for a bill that would allow doctors to let the child die if part of a partial birth abortion. So I'm not sure where you people come off saying he's not for abortion.

  13. That sounds great.  Anyone that want to kill their baby because of their own stupidity needs to have the same done to them.  It's one thing to abort to save the life of the mother but to abort because the mother is too loose to keep her legs together is just shy of criminal.
