And if abortion is the answer to these problems, why is it still a problem? We have had decades of abortion. Surely by now there should be no crime and no need for foster care or welfare. Doesn't seem to work though.

Do you think their might be the tiniest possibilty that out there somewhere is a teenager who is pregnant with the next Da Vinci, or some on welfare who is pregnant with the next Mozart? Life, whether it is planned or not, is essentially a gift and is a GOOD thing.

My sister-in-law fell pregnant at 15. She was going to have an abortion, but at the last minute changed her mind. Her daughter is now a beautiful young women, full of life, compassion and joy and also a very talented artist. She adds to the life of her mother, her grandparents, her friends and me. She, and the pregnancy from which she came, was definately a "good thing".

it will never be illegal again, its a womans right to choose whats best for her body, i agree with your statement above. will the pro-lifers be there to raise that child, give it everything it needs, so on? dont think so, they are just good for giving guilt trips and judging people, and its so wrong. judge no man people, beacuse you never know where your life may take you and what kind of situation you might find yourself in.

I dont know what you would call me, because I absolutely hate abortions.  Like I would never get one and I dont like it when others get one, but I know sometimes its necessary.  I dont like those people that get one even though they can raise the child, they might struggle a little but it will be fine.

I also believe, if you are raped, then thats your choice to get an abortion.  You didn't have the choice to be raped, so at least have the choice of whether or not to be a mommy.

I guess the good thing about pro life is there would be less breast cancer.  Abortions increase the risk of breast cancer, and increase dramatically after more than one.  So I dunno what costs more some of these people with gov medical ins dying of breast cancer and their bills through the roof, or them on welfare for a little while.

Well, I think this is something of an exaggeration.  If abortion was made illegal I suspect what would happen is that people would start taking more care to use contraception, rather than relying on abortion as a form of contraception.  it isn't all that difficult to avoid getting pregnant if you really don't want to be.

And I haven't noticed that having legalised abortion has actually caused there to be fewer children in foster care.

I am not pro life, but I would suggest that they do not want or intend to fill the world with the kinds of issues you offer.  That is the end result, of course, in many cases...but it is not their intent.

As abortion is a legal procedure, it would make sense that people stop focussing on it and spend their considerable time and energies on the issues they CAN do something about...which are the ones you mention...

No. I personally want a world where people actually control their sexual urges and wait until they are in a stable, committed relationship in which both partners (ideally, spouses) are mature and financially able to care for a child. But that won't happen. People are content to rut like animals and be led about by every wave of passion that hits because it's easier to give in than to abstain.

Just stopping abortion isn't enough, though I would rejoice if we could end such a barbaric practice (excluding medical abortions...but they make up only a few percentage points of the total number performed). What we need is to strike at the root of the problem - promiscuity. If we can fix that problem, we won't be overrun with teen pregnancies. Birth control isn't enough. People need to stop the behaviour. Until they do we will continue to see teen pregnancies and unwanted pregnancies.

But hey, if you really want to think pro-lifers are out to ruin the world and make everyone miserable, go right ahead. Just understand that in many cases you are wrong. That isn't what we want at all.

I think we should start at the source but instead of only looking at the person who have to get the abortion (in rape cases) how about look at the perpetrator who should have their private area amputated or altered to the point that they can't offend another person !!! hmm.. sounds good to me.

Yes or people could realize with abortion removed getting pregnant early is NO JOKE and will be more carefull. However iam not that optimistic, to achieve that we would have to remove wellfare so that people see children starve to death to scare them.

Here's the alternative...imagine a world where the laws of the land will allow you be a MURDERER and inject a poisonious solution into the baby as it is coming out of the birth canal.  If you were 5 months pregnant and a drunk hit you, and the baby died.  He could be prosecuted for the death of you HUMAN being that just happens to be in the womb.  Yet overzealous elitists think it is a woman's "right" to saw off a babies head while it is the womb up until 7 months????  What about the rights of the HUMAN BEING that happens to be in the womb??  

Wasn't his/her choice to be born to irresponsible idiots who just also happen to be selfish and murderous or misguided.

I am pro-choice and wanted to respond to the insane comments of the pro-lifers who have posted here.

1. As long as babies aren't killed they don't care how they suffer alive; seems as an oxy-moron; save life no matter the cost right? Pro-choicers seem more humane.

2. Trashy women have abortions; watch a movie called "If these walls could talk" educate yourself on both sides before you talk.

3. Abortion is used as Birth Control(bc)!  I don't know many women who have more then one; except one girl who didn't want to have 4 kids and she was always on three kinds of BC at all times; they just weren't a 100% effective.  No she could not afford that many kids; she does have two though.  When you assume you only make an *** out of you and me... so educate yourselves.

4. Welfare and foster system still exist even though abortion is legal. Please pro-lifers close your legs (as you suggest for pro-choice) and stop dumping your unwanted kids off to the government for the rest of us to pay for.

5. Life is a gift you might kill Mozart; trust me the higher powers will make sure that Mozart is born maybe it will just go to the next pregnant women.  

6. No pro-choicer has ever been okay with cutting the heads of a baby who has gestated for 7 months.  You can't get an abortion after 3 months.  Again please educate yourself and stop throwing around stupid made up scenario's that just make your side look a little of their rockers.

7. She doesn't want to pay for abortion; then don't have one.  The government doesn't pay for them.  The mother/father has to gather the couple hundred dollars themselves.

8. You assume that if abortion was illegal that people would use bc.  I think I already answered that but wanted to laugh at you... lmao. Did anyone ever tell you that bc is not a 100% effective?  Have you ever had protected/unprotected s*x with the hope of not getting pregnant? Or do you just procreate?  Or do you just not have s*x?
