Pro Series Champion Kyle Larson aims to emulate Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne – NASCAR news
Kyle Larson, reigning K&N Pro Series champion says in his stock car racing career, he wants to follow in the footsteps of top NASCAR drivers like Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne.
Larson made his NASCAR debut last year, while racing for Revolution Racing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Larson’s entry in the stock car racing world came with quite impressive. In his debut season, Larson went on to win the K&N Pro Champion title.
Larson also competed in 4 races of the 2012 Camping World Truck Series racing for Turner Motorsports. He posted two top-10 finishes and led most laps in Ford EcoBoost 200, the final race of the series.
“It’s really difficult just because I’m not used to it yet. The aerodynamics are a huge factor and the radial tires are different than what I’ve ever ran,” Larson said while talking about his initial experience in the stock car racing world.
According to Larson, NASCAR has been his passion ever since he started paying attention to stock car racing.
“While I was very young, I wanted to run Indy cars but once I started paying attention to stock car racing, I knew right away I would like to race NASCAR more than anything,” Larson said.
Some car racing legends believe that Indy car would be Larson’s best shot. The 20-year-old understands what a boost Indy car racing could give to his racing career but for now, Larson is focussed on stock car racing.
“I understand Indy 500 would be a blast for my NASCAR career. The good thing with Ganassi is they have Indy cars so maybe some day I can get that opportunity,” Larson said.
Racing out of NASCAR, Larson holds impressive statistics as well. While racing in World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, and American Sprint Car Series, Larson posted a total of 22 race victories in 2011. While racing at Stewart’s Eldora Speedway, Larson won
in Silver Crown, Sprint cars, and Midgets in just one night.
In the years to come, Larson seems to have a bright future in stock car racing. He just needs to be patient and focused to build a strong and prosperous career.
