Pro V1 vs. Pro V1x?

Hey people

i've been playing golf for 3 yrs...and play about 20~30 times/year

I usually shoot anywhere from 79~84 most of the time

and I generally use either Pro V1 or Pro V1x...

so far, I get more distance for using Pro V1 (I drive about 280 yds), however, I can control my short game more efficiently with Pro V1x...(i can back spin the ball at will about 50% time)

so what do you think i should use?

and what do you use?

  1. You are going to save strokes more often with your short game than distance off the tee.  You may hit the Pro V1 farther than the V1x, but not much farther.  On average the V1 is a yard longer than the V1X.  Simply put, the short game is how you score in golf and the V1X spins more than the V1 and a higher spin ball will provide more greenside control.  You've seen it in action.  I play the Nike One Black or Platinum which spin faster than the Pro V1X.

  2. according to Golf magazine, the Pro V1x spins faster than the Pro V1, and there's only a few yards difference off the tee.  If you can generate good speed around the greens with the V1, go for that.

Personally, I've played both, and I have more of a tendacy to slice with the V1x, so I try to stay away from that.

  3. I hate the Vx the V1 spins more which give me more control around the greens.  Never really cared about my distance off the tee.

  4. not only do i swear by the pro v1. its got to be a number 1 or 2 as well. its the closest thing to perfection and i dont think they will ever make a better ball. backspin means nothing to me as i play mostly links golf. you have to be more inventive and be able to control the ball and hit it  with a lower trajectory. i can get the correct ball flight with the pro v1.

  5. The V1 is designed to spin more, hence more greenside and approach shot control. The obvious downside being accentuated and usually undesired spin off the tee (ie more pronounced hooks and slices).

The V1x is designed to spin less off the tee and provide better distance at the small cost of losing a little greenside spin.

I guarantee the V1x is far more suitable for your game if you're deciding between those two balls. I'm a PGA apprentice and Iive and die by the Bridgestone B330 for reasons I could write a thesis on.

  6. I don't use either, my handicap is to hight o justify the cash, but from guys in my office who do use them, they like the pro vi over the v1x.  Thats from the grapevine, so I hope it helps.

  7. I normally use the Bridgestone e5, but I like Pro V1's.
