When is the season for professional volleyball?

It depends...

Indoor volleyball:

It is played year round but in general most professional leagues begin around September-December. There is usually a preseason of some sorts.  For instance in Brazil where I am now we have had about 2 months of preseason and on Dec. 9th the league will begin and last until April. This includes playoffs and a championship.

In other places the leagues start at other times though...

In Puerto Rico their league starts in April or so and goes until about September for men. For women it begins around January and ends around May.

In Indonesia the league is from February until the end of April.

Beach:

Beach is played mostly during the summer.

The AVP ( http://www.avp.com ) is played mostly during the summer months in the USA since it is a national tour.

In many countries on every continent they have their own pro tour like the USA's AVP tour.  So while it is winter in the USA, Brazilians are in their sumer and beach season is in full effect.
