does anyone know of a pro bono lawyer in Canada, that has experience fighting against Children's aid society. And would work on a legal aid certificate, that would be willing to travel if not located in the same province

  1. You have a good question so I'll try to answer it as best as possible.

First off any lawyer from another Province would also have to be a member of the Bar in the Province where the case is being heard, so if you're in NB for example and you have found a lawyer from PEI to take your case he/she would also have to be allowed to practice law in your Province.

If you have a legal aid certificate the lawyer wouldn't be "pro bono" but would be paid for by your Province. I hate to tell you this but most law socities in the Provices will not issue a legal aid certificate for family law cases, they are almost 100% reserved for criminal prosecution cases. It would be like the Province paying to fight one of their own department's and they just won't do that.

If by chance you live inOntario the Upper Canada Law Society in Toronto could possibly put you in the right direction for a pro-bono lawyer, in Manitoba you can call the Legal Aid action center.

I hope this helps a bit.
