  1. There is always ONE way to "buy green", leave excessive packaging at the store. Like paper boxes for tooth paste etc. We don't need it, bar code is still on the tube or container. That's waste of energy and resources.

Buy un-bleached toilet paper and kitchen towels.

Buy more cotton and wool clothes rather than synthetic.

Buy "cook from scratch" groceries rather than canned food and prefab food.

DON'T FORGET to buy from local producers, to minimize the excessive use of energy for transportation.

If you already have Internet at your house, cancel your news paper subscription and read at read on line. That way you save trees.

Buy as much as you can from environmental certified manufacturers and distributors. See ISO 14001-2004

  2. 1. AL Gore  2. Al Gore 3. Al Gore

  3. 1. Less resources needed in production

    2. Less waste produced

    3. Lower energy requirements for electronic items

  4. Consuming things.. NEVER helps the environment - green or not.. the key is to consume LESS and consume green over regular products.. but simply consuming GREEN products still harms the environment...

  5. Ideally, we want to consume less. However, I am realistic. Many of us who love the environment are consumers nonetheless, so it helps to be conscious about what we are buying. Green products:

    1. Reduce the amount of waste in the landfill if they are made from recycled products

    2. Help conserve or reduct the amount of energy used

    3. Are produced without chemicals and using natural materials and components

    4. Are made from sustainable resources like bamboo, which grows back a whole lot faster than trees, hemp, jute, etc.

    5. Do not release toxic chemicals into the environment (for example, zero-VOC paint)

I could go on and on....There are lots of ways to go green. It is just a matter of being constantly aware and conscious of it.
