  1. prove them wrong.

you can't do anything in life if you let other people stop you. you'll have major regrets if you do.

just ask them to support you once let you try it and if it doesn't work out you can accept the fact that may not be your path.

But when you're there try harder then you've ever tried and give it all you've got so in your heart and mind you know if it truly doesn't work out then you tried your damnedest and maybe one day it'll be your career.

i think you should do it. no matter what though. you never know until you try...DREAM BIG, and LOVE HARD!

    good luck hun

  2. prove them wrong

    tell them that is wat

    u want to do

and if the pro thing dosent work open

    up a dance studeo

i go and dance in my teachers house

so u can open it anywhere

  3. You have to realize that this is your decision - when I was considering becoming a professional ballet dancer, my parents did not totally support me but they did not say anything negative or put me down because they realized it was my decision and my life and not theirs.  They would give their input if I asked for it and made sure I realized how hard the life would be but did not try to sway me into making a decision one way or the other.  You need to gently tell your family that only you need to make the decision - if dancing is to be your life then don't let others persuade you that dancing is not for you.  You'll regret it for the rest of your life.  Good luck and really make the right decision from the bottom of your heart.  Email me if you just wanna vent, lol.

  4. I know its hard, but if thats really your passion, then go for it. Don't regret not doing it because you wanted to please your family.

Also, consider your dance options, dance is not as narrow of a field as people would think. Its just hard to be a famous, professional dancer. There are plenty of people who either balance their dance jobs with other jobs, or also work other jobs with in the field, allowing them to work with dance for the rest of their lives (dance therapists, dance professors, studio owners, stage managers, etc!) One of my professors is an amazing professional dancer, but still pays the bills by teaching, etc!

    Good luck, and keep dancing!
