Question:

Pro-life and pro-gun... Can you help me understand?

I am confused about how many people who are pro-life are also for owning a gun to protect their property. It's not ok to kill them before they are born but it is ok to kill them if they are going to take your stuff. Aren't unwanted children more likely to grow up and become criminals? wouldn't getting rid of them before they grow up unloved, save the government and countless others tons of money and heartache? Also, why is it not ok to kill a baby but if someone takes your material possessions (which can be replaced with insurance) it means they should be shot? I am very confused about this. It just seems that if a person is pro-life, they would never be willing to kill an adult either... but I have found many people who think like this. I just don't understand. Can you help me figure out how a person can have this mindset?

  1. Sarah Palin right? She's also for oil drilling! Isn't that ridiculous! I'm glade I'm not an American! I'm from Canada. I hope Obama wins for your countrys sake maybe even for the world since she's for oil drilling.

    edit:

Yeah and where it's pretty safe I read on wikipedia that our province has the lowest crime rate then most of those crazy places in the states. I'll find the link.

    edit:

  2. Y'know...I look at this question and think about vegans.   Give it a thought...Those who are in it to be fashionable  might not eat meat but will wear leather and use products tested on animals.  Those are serious follow the logic and spirit of their belief system to the logical conclusion and make every consumer decision based on that commitment.

If "pro-life" applies only to the unborn, I don't get it.  Perhaps Thou Shalt Not Kill is more of a suggestion than a Commandment.

It is a confusing and polarizing issue.  Many servicemen, police and the like know that they must be prepared to take a life.  However, many find abortion to be morally objectionable.

As a veteran with 13 years of service I will say this:

The taking of any life must be done only as an absolute necessity after all other options have been exhausted.

Since I don't have a womb I don't feel qualified to determine the right path for any woman who does not share my bed.

I understand hunting as a means for people to secure food that they require to care for their families.  I oppose hunting for the sake of a trophy.

By the way, you right.  We should be able disagree here without getting personal and abrasive.  That kind of diminishes the whole concept of this forum...at least as I see it.
