Pro-lifers I have a question?

So you are pro-life. That is fine with me. Only thing I don't like it when pro-lifers have to picket and march to show the are against abortions. My belief is everyone has a right to their own.. it's their life, let them make that hard decision, don't try to decide for them.

Ironically, Christians claim they are "pro-life", and yet, that is exactly the God they worship. However, most Christians are Pro-Capital Punishment/Death Penalty and Pro-War (such as Bush's war with Iraq which "God" told him to start), which is killing thousands of American and Iraqis (as well as others). Great "pro-life" position.

I just don't get it. Who makes it "legal and just" to do the killings?

  1. When a woman decided to have s*x, she should have known about the consequences, I agree woman's body is her own, but she has NO RIGHT to kill an unborn baby. Baby's body is not her own.

Do not compare an innocent baby with a child molester, serial killer, serial rapist..etc. Those sc*mbags deserve to burn in h**l for all I care.

Yes, it WAS just to get rid of Saddam Hussein. History will remember Bush as a good and underated president who had to deal with a ton of liberal b.s.

Abortion is immoral. Baby's body is not a woman's body, she has no right to kill that body. She choose to have s*x. Abortion is only justified in rape and incest cases.

  2. We believe that unborn babies deserve protection and that murderers do not. That is why we are pro life and pro death penalty. Pro life refers specifically to abortion, just like "pro choice" does. Also, as a pro lifer I do NOT support the Iraq war, so why stereotype? I do support military action against Iran, but it is a mistake to call that camp "pro war" and the opposite "anti war". Actually, the labels should be reversed:

Also, I have never took place in any march/protest.

What is really weird is the opposite side. Liberals criticize conservatives for being pro life yet pro death penalty, even though I have explained that above. But at the same time liberals support legal abortion yet oppose the death penalty. So, while liberals criticize conservatives for wanting to protect the unborn (which are innocent) but not murderers (which are guilty), the liberals do it the other way around. How is the liberal stand here any better?

And as a Christian, I highly doubt that Bush was ordered by God to start this war.

  3. The bible does not directly address abortion.

The bible does how ever show a difference between the born and unborn by stating that a fine of 50 shekels be paid to the father of the unborn if the woman is caused to miscarry by some act compared to the biblical penalty for killing someone who is already born is death.

If abortion is murder, then by the law of Moses the penelty would be death not a 50 shekel fine.

The christians will pick what they want and ignore what they want in the bible to twist what it says.

  4. i think abortion should be legal

i believe that woman have the right to decide what they have to do and not othe people decide for them =]

  5. I know you do not want to hear this but the standard was originally written by God in the Bible. These are his rules. So your argument is with an absolute God who does not change His opinions just because a few million women cannot keep their legs crossed.

The choice comes before you have created an innocent life, not after

Besides, your argument does not hold a bit of water because the DNA of the mother and the child are different. It is NOT her body. It is the unborn babies body. What part of that do you not understand?

Why not let serial killers kill who they like. Its their choice too?

  6. When you're talking about another person's life, you have no right to kill it, whether it's inside your body or outside of your body.  Plain and simple.  What is s*x for?  Reproduction.  Don't people know that by now?  And yes, humans make mistakes, but killing a baby isn't the answer to that mistake.  What about adoption?  I take this issue very personally because my daughter gave birth to a premature baby.  She was born 3 months early and thank GOD she lived and is thriving now and is doing great.  When did my granddaughter become a person? Was it after she was delivered?  Was it a week before?

Was it five minutes before?   She was a living human being for a long time.  She was in my daughter's body, but she was a separate human being.  No, I don't picket and protest.  I just pray that the people who see a baby as 'choice' to kill if they want to will stop ignoring that a baby is a human being.

  7. Let me first start by saying, babies aren't born evil, murderers, rapists, or the Jeffrey Dahmers of our world.  There is scientific proof that there is a multitude of life's experiences that shape our personalities, and thereby our behaviors.  I am not talking about excuses, only explanations for certain behaviors.  I have heard that there are 7 basic defining moments in a person's life.  Any one of those moments could theoretically flip the switch, from an innocent loving person, to a so-called monster.  Our society, schools, health care, particularly mental health care, our parents, religious leaders, and religious zealots that prey upon children, are all  influences in raising a child, and also destroying a child.  Because I believe we are all ONE, we are also our brother's keeper.  We should also be protectors of all children, no matter what the circumstances.

Having said all that, I believe we all have some responsibility for the evil that exists in our country, directly or indirectly.  I believe if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.  While we all cannot possibly change the life of every person in need, we certainly can make a difference in the lives of everyone we encounter.  I believe in "pass it on".

I believe at  the moment of conception, there is a life in the early stages of becoming a baby, a person.  If left to develop, usually a beautiful human being results.  However, if interferred with, i.e. an abortion, that life is extinguished.  I do not believe in this interferrance with a pregnancy.  Even in the case of rape, a woman, young girl, killing a resulting pregnancy will not have erased the horrible memories and trauma of the rape.  People believe that a resulting baby would be nothing but a traumatic memory of the event.  But is that really true?  Giving life to a baby, just may be the one and only beautiful result of this act.  I think once a female resorts to abortion, she will be changed forever.  I don't believe human beings are capable of making decisions about which life is allowed to live, because we are not as human being prepared to deal with the consequencesof that decision.  Taking a a human life, whether a fetus, or criminal, gives that person the power over life and death, something  that we are not prepared to deal with.  It  makes us as uncivilized as the person who cold-bloodedly murders another human being in a criminal act.

The day that I decided I would be pro-life,  I decided that it applies  to all life,   for me that means TOTALLY pro-life.  There always is another solution.  Allow a baby to be adopted, or enjoy the blessings of motherhood.  Put a criminal in prison for life, if necessary.  Allow that person the opportunity to train, and work in prison, earn money that they could then turn over to society, as some sort of amends for their crime.  Allow them the opportunity to truly repent, even if it doesn't come until their death bed.The death penalty will never bring back a life lost, or heal the family of the slain person.  It never brings them peace.  Perhaps peace could come in other more creative humane ways.  It amazes me every time I hear of the family of a victim expressing their forgiveness, for the murderer.  THEY know that forgiveness is for them, and is the only way of moving on.  It doesn't mean inviting them over for dinner, but rather it is an act of letting it go, and finding peace.    Killing anyone in any other country, doesn't make us right, I am afraid that we may be seen as  just another bully, forcing our will on others.  Why not the opposite approach?  Why not do everything we can to help the oppressed, to rise up and be strong enough to overcome their oppressors. If we can spend billions fighting and killing, why not use that money to feed, and help the oppressed.  I truly think that we as a country would be so much more proud to be americans, if were considered humanitarians, rather than a super power attacking other people.  I personally have been friends with a man for many years, who was in the Vietnam war.  He is the most caring compassionate person I have ever known.  However, he agonizes constantly over the killing he committed over there, saying, "That man had a mother, father, maybe children, other family members and friends, who have lost their loved one.  It doesn't matter why he had to do this, the fact that he took lives, has destroyed him in many ways.  I believe he spends every day of his life trying to amend what he did in Vietnam, by going out of his way to do for others.  Is that a good thing, perhaps, but at what price?  Nothing he can do, can ever take away the pain, or bring back the lives he took.  I pray that some day, we will be able to teach everyone how to respect all life, because if that could be possible, there would never be a need for an abortion, because young women would respect themselves, and young men would resp

  8. everyone has a right to picket.i suppose you support those people protesting gi funerals though.when you murder someone.you have no more rights, you gave them up.our laws make it legal and just.and the war was passed through our senate.all legal and fine.i hope this clears it up for you!

  9. The village idiot makes it "legal and Just".  the one that was afraid to serve during Vietnam and hid in the TANG, the born again christian is who "decides"  that's who.

  10. The Bible says an eye for an eye...so that would justify capital punishment. How are you against capital punishment but okay with someone killing an innnocent child?

If it makes you feel better to believe that life doesn't start at conception then whatever.

A poster on Y!A actually said that she couldn't stand the thought of her baby living with someone else, adoption, so she had an abortion. WTF? Where are the morals of this society?

Another poster on Y!A said she was having an abortion for the "right reasons" which were: she was too young, couldn't afford it and her and the father didn't have a stable relationship! Why are you having s*x then? Those people are stupid. She listed all of the reasons why she shouldn't be sexually active!

Life starts at conception! People like you are stopping beating hearts. There are people out there that would pay women generously to adopt their babies but women are too selfish for that. Atleast with an abortion no one has to know what selfish pieces of junk they are. But they feel they will be judged if they are pregnant then all of a sudden don't have a baby because they gave it up for adoption.

One day these women will have children and they will forever look at them and feel guilty for the life they selfishly took away!!!

EDIT: You can give me a thumbs down all you want but abortion is still taking a life. You can't change that. So continue to give me thumbs down and I will continue to fight for the ones who aren't given a chance. The other poster was right...you are able to talk because your mother was pro-life!!

  11. So you are pro-life. YES I AM.

That is fine with me. GLAD I HAVE YOUR APPROVAL.

Only thing I don't like it when pro-lifers have to picket and march to show the are against abortions. COOL.  I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN MEXICANS PICKET AND MARCH TO SHOW THEY ARE AGAINST A SOVEREIGN NATION HAVING IMMIGRATION LAWS.

My belief is everyone has a right to their own.. it's their life, let them make that hard decision, don't try to decide for them.  AIN'T DEMOCRACY GREAT.  YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION.  IT HAPPENS TO BE WRONG, BUT YOU ARE ENTITLTED TO IT NONETHELESS.

Ironically, Christians claim they are "pro-life", and yet, that is exactly the God they worship. "PRO-LIFE" IS THE GOD CHRISTIANS WORSHIP?  THAT SOUNDS LIKE NONSENSE.  ARE YOU SNIFFING SHARPIE MARKERS?

However, most Christians are Pro-Capital Punishment/Death Penalty and Pro-War (such as Bush's war with Iraq which "God" told him to start), which is killing thousands of American and Iraqis (as well as others).  NEVER HEARD THAT GOD TOLD BUSH TO INVADE IRAQ.  IN FACT, I BELIEVE ALL BUT A COUPLE OF FOLKS IN CONGRESS GAVE THAT MOVE THE THUMBS-UP.  IF YOU THINK A BABY = A MURDERER = A TERRORIST (AND IF YOU DON'T THINK HUSSEING--SADDAM, NOT BARACK--WAS A TERRORIST, YOU SHOULD ASK THE PEOPLE WHO LIVED UNDER HIS RULE), THEN YOU MAY NEED TO RE-THINK (OR JUST THINK) YOUR POSITION BEFORE YOU TYPE IT OUT.

Great "pro-life" position.  THANKS.  GLAD YOU LIKE IT.

I just don't get it. Who makes it "legal and just" to do the killings?  MORALITY.  LOOK INTO IT.  BUT IF YOU ARE SO CONCERNED WITH PROTECTING THE LIVES OF MURDERERS, WHY DON'T YOU FOCUS YOUR EFFORTS THERE RATHER THAN SPENDING YOUR TIME AND ENERGY ADVOCATING THE MURDER OF UNBORN CHILDREN.  IT'S GRUESOME.  IT'S WICKED.  IT'S SAD.  IT'S WRONG.

Thank you all for your comments. Except that guy who asked if I was smoking something. haha.  YOU'RE WELCOME.  HAHA...

Oh, and I couldn't care less of what the men have to say on here because they will never know what a woman has to indure to have or not to have the baby.  AND A WOMAN WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT A BABY HAS TO "INDURE" [SIC] WHEN IT IS VACUUMED OUT OF THE WOMB AND PULVERIZED, OR WHEN LABOR IS INDUCED AND THE CHILD IS CUT INTO PIECES BY A BUTCHER CALLING HIMSELF A DOCTOR.

Last of all. I agree that this is NOT an easy issue.   IT IS AN EASY ISSUE.  THE DIFFICULT THING IS JUSTIFYING SOMETHING SO BLATANTLY WRONG.

For me personally I would love to be a pro-life advocate because I don't think I could ever have an abortion. But on the other hand, I know it is NOT right for me to tell another woman what she can or cannot do with her body or life!!!!  OK.  IF A WOMAN WANTS TO GET A TATTOO OR SHOOT HEROIN, OR LIVE UNDER A BRIDGE, OR CUT HERSELF, OR LISTEN TO CRAPPY MUSIC... LET HER MAKE THAT CHOICE.  IT DOESN'T AFFECT ANYONE BUT HER.  BUT IF IT IS OK TO TELL HER SHE CANNOT KILL A 6 MONTH OLD OR A FIRST GRADER OR A TEENAGER, THEN IT IS OK TO TELL HER SHE CANNOT KILL A CHILD BEFORE IT IS BORN.  THEY ARE ALL CHILDREN, JUST IN DIFFERENT DEVELOPMENTAL STAGES.  WHEN HER CHOICE STARTS TO AFFECT THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS, BORN OR UNBORN, THEY ARE NO LONGER "RIGHTS."

AND ALSO, I FIND IT HILARIOUS THAT NO CANADIAN TEAM HAS WON THE STANLEY CUP IN 15 YEARS.

  12. As someone else said, as stated in the First Amendment, the people of the US have the right to peaceably assemble. However, the pro-war, pro-death penalty stance of those on the right contradicts their pro-life stance, if they truly believe all life is sacred. Unfortunately, some of those on the right believe that our government should base our laws on their religion and their morality. But thankfully, we live in a democracy (or a republic to be more specific) and not in a theocracy. They also seem to forget that our elected officials placed their hands on a Bible and swore to uphold the US Constitution, they did not place their hands on the US Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.

And short of making all abortions illegal, those on the right have offered little or no real solutions that would effectively reduce the number of abortions per year. Something like 70% of all abortions take place because the parents are not financially able to take care of themselves and/or their prospective child. Then there's our public schools, which instead of offering comprehensive s*x education courses, are forced to teach abstinence only s*x ed. The icing on the cake for me is a study that was released a few years ago that stated that teens who take abstinence pledges are just as likely to contract an STD as kids who didn't and the girls who take the pledge are more likely to allow for anal and oral s*x.

So here's what we do to reduce the number of abortions: We need to make adoption a more viable option so that the children will be put up for adoption instead of being aborted. We need to offer greater assistance for mother's who are not in the best financial situation. And we need to offer comprehensive s*x Ed. in our schools and perhaps make condoms available in low income area clinics, shelters, etc., as well as in public high schools. BUT the condoms would only be available in the high schools to students who had a consent form signed by a parent/guardian and only after the student has met with a health counselor to discuss the risks of protected/ unprotected s*x. Condoms don't promote s*x any more than seatbelts promote accidents. They're there to save lives and they say that we respect our children's choices, but we also want them to have respect for themselves, for their partner(s) and for the potential life they could create.

  13. Be careful when making generalizations that begin with "most Christians...."  Believe it or not, you'll find that the Christian community is just as diverse as any other.

That said, yours is a very common question here, but I think it may be oversimplifying both issues (abortion and capital punishment).

The abortion debate generally boils down to where you believe that life begins. Pro-lifers believe life begins at conception (and therefore, logically, abortion is murder). Pro-choicers believe that life begins at birth. Both sides will dazzle you with mountains of evidence to support their case, but there is simply no way to prove either side. It comes down to what you BELIEVE.

The death penalty is an entirely separate issue.  I supported capital punishment for a long time, but the more I learned about it, the more I came to oppose it. In the end, several factors changed my mind:

    1. By far the most compelling is this: Sometimes the legal system gets it wrong. In the last 30 years in the U.S. alone, over 100 people have been released from death row because they were exonerated by DNA evidence. These are ALL people who were found guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt."  Unfortunately, DNA evidence is not available in most cases. No matter how rare it is, the government should not risk executing one single innocent person.

Really, that should be reason enough for most people to oppose it. If you need more, read on:

    2. Because of higher pre-trial expenses, longer trials, jury sequestration, extra expenses associated with prosecuting a DP case, separate sentencing trials, and the appeals process (which is necessary - see reason #1), it costs taxpayers MUCH more to execute prisoners than to imprison them for life.

    3. The deterrent effect is questionable at best. Violent crime rates are actually higher in death penalty jurisdictions. This may seem counterintuitive, and there are many theories about why this is (Ted Bundy saw it as a challenge, so he chose Florida – the most active execution state at the time – to carry out his final murder spree). Personally, I think it has to do with the hypocrisy of taking a stand against murder…by killing people. The government fosters a culture of violence by saying, ‘do as I say, not as I do.’

    4. There’s also an argument to be made that death is too good for the worst criminals. Let them wake up and go to bed every day of their lives in a prison cell, and think about the freedom they DON’T have, until they rot of old age. When Ted Bundy was finally arrested in 1978, he told the police officer, “I wish you had killed me.” Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (the architect of the 9/11 attacks) would love nothing better than to be put to death. In his words, "I have been looking to be a martyr [for a] long time."

    5. Most governments are supposed to be secular, but for those who invoke Christian law in this debate, you can find arguments both for AND against the death penalty in the Bible. For example, Matthew 5:38-39 insists that violence shall not beget violence. James 4:12 says that God is the only one who can take a life in the name of justice. Leviticus 19:18 warns against vengeance (which, really, is what the death penalty amounts to). In John 8:7, Jesus himself says, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

  14. too many people use abortion for birth control.  the woman has the right to have s*x or not have s*x, she has the right to use birth control or not - so does her partner.  if a woman isn't smart enough or is too lazy to insist on protecting herself, why should the baby pay.  the baby destroyed might be the greatest leader, doctor, etc that was ever born (might not), but this will never be known because it was killed first. if a woman has absolute control with what she wants to do with her life or body, then prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse, etc would be legal.    as for wars, etc. how many thousands of lives were saved from torture, and were allowed to live by the unselfish acts of the soldiers that went there.  there will always be wars and rumors of wars according to the bible.  i doubt God told him to start the war, but he did help the people of iraq. and they were able to hide the wmds really well.

  15. i agree with you. i'm not sure where i stand on the whole abortion thing. i think that a person has a right to choose, but then again, what would happen if my mom decided to get an abortion with me? and it does teach irresponsibility, because now people think they can do "things" and not have to pay consequences for it because they can just terminate the pregnancy. this would just make the std spread even worse, and it would make our culture based more and more on s*x. but then again, there are people who get raped and impregnated, and those who did but are too afraid to speak up about it. and sometimes people just make bad choices. after all, we're only human.

and yes, i hate how people use god as an excuse for no abortions. who gave you the right to decide that there even is a god, and to decide what he would want? and not everyone is christian, so what gives them the right to effect everyone based on their beliefs? and as far as the war, i believe the US is in it because of terrorism and our dependency on foreign trade, economy and oil, but the muslim extremists and terrorists attacked us because they think we're satanic sinners and deserve to die. in fact, i think that all wars were started by religion, or at least have ties to it........but here's a thought --- instead of killing in the name of god, why not, like, LOVE in the name of god? honestly, i know some problems can't be solved by talking things out, but i think the world expects everyone to agree with them way too much.

    sorry for the ranting............lol

well, i have no idea what side i'm on with pro-life vs pro-choice. but i don't plan on ever having to make that decision, because i'm going to be SMART with my life! lol =D

  16.   You get to ask this question because at some point your mother was "pro-life", yours.

    Who speaks for the others?

  17. First off - liberals are all for abortion, euthanaisa, abolishing the death penalty, and gun control.  So liberals are for killing unplanned innocent babies, getting rid of elderly who have outlastedtheir abilities, keeping the worst of the worst alive and healthy, and not allowing decent law abiding homeowners to defend themselves from intruders who mean deadly harm.  I get it!  By the way, to all you out there who are against pro-life...if your parents felt that way, you would not be here today.  Get it?
