  1. if the receiver has both of these modes, then it will have true digital counterparts (dd and dts). i am assuming that you are watching vhs or something 2 channel also or else it is a moot point. pro logic 2 is great for movies while neo is better for music. that is what the pros typically agree upon.

  2. I'm a big fan of Pro-Logic II (X only comes into play if you have a 6.1 or 7.1 speaker set-up, in which case it works very well too.) dts Neo 6 tries to do more or less the same thing which is to decode a 2 channel recording into an accurate 5.1 playback.  I think PLIIx does a better job though. That only an opinion though and I haven't seen any data to support one over the other so try both to find your favorite.

  3. Depends on your source, if the DVD is in DTS then that is your best listening mode.

But if it does not have DTS the Pro Logic ll is your best listening mode.

DTS is another company's version of Dolby Digital. some people prefer it over Dolby Digital or 5.1.

Pro Logic ll is still analog system which will take  2.0 source and convert it to 5.1.
