Question:

Proactive Refining Mask? Peeling Acne?

I heard that the best product from proactive that "really" works was the refining mask so I've been trying it for about 4-5 days now and since I started using it my acne started peeling, if that makes any sense. It did! I told my cousin about it but she says that it's a normal thing so that "new skin can grow back" or something like that. Is it really normal? Isn't this bad for my skin? What should I do? Discontinue the use of the refining mask? Please leave comments with answers(:

it's be much appreciated. Please and thank you.

  1. First of all, using a refining mask, whether it's Proactiv or something else, a mask should be used 1-2 times a week, nothing more! Using a mask everyday will do some harm to your skin, and it will even dryo out you skin badly. The purpose of a mask is to help to improve the skin and it's outlook, by absorbing oil, moisturizing dehydrated skin, and replenishing dull skin. After the application of a mask you should realize a more fresher feeling and appearance. So chill on the mask, and let your face breathe ... yes acne sucks but give it time, it will clear up!

  2. It is normal for dead skin to peel off.  Often fewer products are better.  People often make their acne worse by using too many products.  There is no quick fix for acne.  Your doctor may recommend some prescription medication.  Keep your face very clean.  Drink plenty of water.  Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep.  Try to reduce the stress in your life.  Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.   Here are a few informative links with additional home treatment ideas.
