  1. You user profile might be corrupted, just create a new user, log in with the new user name and u should be able to work normally.

  2. 1.  Reboot the computer.

    2.  If that does not fix the problem go into Safe-Mode and see if the problem is happening there.

-- If it does, check the path of the icons on the desktop (right mouse click on the icon and click on properties.  Does the path point to the location of the program?)

-- If it doesn't, something is loading in Normal mode that is causing the problem.  Click on Start | Run and type "msconfig" without the ".  Click on selective startup.  Click on the startup tab and click on "disable all".  Click on Apply and OK and yes to restarting.

Please be aware that this will disable your Anti-virus so don't open Internet Explorer yet.

Boot up normally and see if the icons work.  If so, go back into Msconfig and go to the startup tab and only check the items for your anti-virus software-- (if you have any installed).  Again, click OK  and yes to restarting.

Now scan your system.  If you don't have any Anti-virus or Spyware removal software on your computer.  Go to http://www.download.com and download Ad-Aware and then run one of the "free" scans on either McAfee's website ( http://www.mcafee.com  or  http://www.symantic.com  ) and see if it finds anything on the system.

  3. OK, Goto Control Panel => Mouse Settings, open the 'Pointers' tab there, and click on 'Use Default' button. Now your icons should work on double clicking .. etc..

  4. try clicking on it and pressing f5 to delete

    not sure about opening
