How come you don't see any female rough stock riders? I know it takes strenght and a certain mind-set, but is it actually not allowed, just untraditional, or are there some, just at lower level rodeos. I mean all you see women compete in really is Barrel Racing, why not rough stock?

  1. hey, bullriding used to be popular with women as well but it was banned. i dont know why though. ladies compete in more than just barrel racing though and there are events that men arent allowed to do either like breakway and undecorating. i ride with the ABCRA, NRC and WCRC and they let girls ride the poddys and some of the older girls ride in the steers but only at some rodeos.

i think its one of those things where they think men are stronger and better abled to do this event. though i recon some women would be able to go out there and beat them lol =)

  2. I have known 4 women bull riders. Its a different mind set for rough stock riders in general. The main reason you don't see them in the PRCA and the PBR is that women don't have the upper body strength that men to(although I have seen some to make me question that). There are women's rough stock events, and the women ride for 6 seconds rather than 8, but they ride the same animals the men do. I have seen these ladies out ride men in 6 seconds. They are incredible, just not as publicises.
