Probably a stupid quesion (common application essay)

I'm thinking of answering:

Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.

My quesion is, can an entire book be considered a creative work? I'm just wondering since it lists a character in fiction separately.

  1. I would say absolutely,an entire book could be considered a creative work. If it was the whole book that left you inspired and had an influence on you, then name the book.  However, if it was only a single character in the book that influenced you, just name that character and what their influence was.

  2. Well a character's influence from a book is different from a book's influence. For example I might say that Albus Wulfric Percival Brian Dumbledore taught me the principles of honesty and friendship. On the other hand I could say Ian McEwan's Atonement taught me the devastating effects of a trivial altercation as it burgeons into a life-long disaster.
