Probably the last Wimbledon Championship for two players – Tennis Special
There are some players that will most probably be playing their last ever Wimbledon Championship this year. They have not announced their retirement but they are the most likely going to quit tennis in a year’s time period. The
list includes two players; one from men’s and one from women’s category.
Let’s begin with the former world number one from Australia:
Lleyton Hewitt
It is very disappointing to know that big guns always remember their trivial losses more than their supreme triumphs and same is the problem with their fans. Everyone remembers his loss at the 2003 Wimbledon Championship when he
bowed out in the opening round of the tournament to the former fastest server, Ivo Karlovic, who is 6’10 tall. It was the saddest day in the career of Hewitt who couldn’t fulfil his promises to the general public and Aussie fans in particular. Someone mentioned
about Karlovic’s triumph against Hewitt in his writings as “gargantuan news, literally and metaphorically”. So, that clearly shows the frustration of fans and Hewitt’s disappointment.
However, the Aussie tennis icon had proved his worth in 2002 when he ousted the Argentine controversial tennis icon, David Nalbandian, to become the Wimbledon Champion. There is hardly anyone who was as vicious and fast as Hewitt
at the Centre Court and his movements against the Argentine tennis ace were sublime in the final of the year’s third Grand Slam Championship. However, he was totally clueless against Karlovic in the following year. Such is the class of this sport. Players
can be surprised by anyone at anytime at any place.
Everyone will definitely miss the best ever “C’mon” in tennis; the energy that he puts in his shots and the willpower to turn things around when nothing is going his way. However, the Aussie superstar might be heard as a commentator
for the Australian Open Championship, later on. He has done that before and plans to continue that for foreseeable future.
Next up for you is the American former world number one:
Venus Williams
There is no doubt that this lady has created a landmark in the history of tennis; smashing the tennis ball in the hardest fashion and playing like a true champion during her prime. No one could ever sneak around her during her
supreme reign over the world. Only her younger sister, Serena, was able to test her likes. She was threatening, filled with energy and an imposing character at the courts. Her history at Wimbledon is definitely long lasting to say the least. She is one of
the best grass court players I have ever witnessed throughout my life.
Venus has won Wimbledon on five different occurrences. She has done that with her aggression, precision and courage. Her ability to mentally upset the opponents is supreme. She will truly be missed and her astonishing dresses that
she wore at different Wimbledon Championships. Up Next for the American superstar after her exit from the professional tennis are her clothing brand, ‘Eleven’ and her interior designing business.
