by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I'm currently on probation for drinking under age & be out after curfew. I'm being made to take some classes & I have a probation officer. They said that they are going to be making home visits and the first one they are going to go through my room & house. I have never been through this & it's my first offense. I was wondering if someone could tell me what to expect.

Also, one particular question that I have is if they will look on my computer or would they like take it and look at everything on the hard drive.

Please answer this question ASAP. It's very important

Thanks

  1. DONT HAVE ANYTHING ILLEGAL IN YOUR ROOM

dont look at p**n, if your underage

pretty just dont have anything bad in your room or in your computer

  2. When I was on probation they looked for guns, drugs and alcohol. Never looked on my computer.

  3. Get rid of all illegal stuff in your room or any area under which you have control. Don't put it in the garage. Don't hide it in places around your house. Get rid of it.

They can come into your room and go through all your stuff in all areas of the house under which you have control. They will rummage through your stuff and you just can't control what they do. Sometimes probation officers aren't particularly thorough. Sometimes they are. It depends on the probation officer. Sometimes they do probation sweeps when you lease expect it. And it can be any time during the day or night. If you are worried about something on your computer, get rid of it. They can check that, too.

  4. Yes, they can look at your computer.  There's a program they can install so they can access your computer from their office.

Don't do anything more illegal, and you'll be fine.

  5. Probation and Parole Officers have the legal right to make unannounced visits to your place of residence - whether you are the owner of that residence or not.  They have the right to enter and search the entire residence without requiring a warrant.  And yes, if you have a computer in your residence, whether it is your personal computer, or not, they have the right to search it, to the point of siezing it and removing it to their office for in-depth hard drive search.  Whether they do this, or not will depend on your probation officer's personal attitude, your attitude, your personal history, etc.

  6. They can search your home and unless you have complaints relating to your computer, it is none of their concern.  Don't harass anyone on it to where they can call your officer and don't do anything wrong on it for them to have a reason to be concerned with what is on the hard drive!!!

  7. They can look at whatever they want as a probation officer.  More than likely, if your crimes don't involve computers then they won't look on your computer.  They are not computer experts.  They are really looking for alcohol (since your crime was drinking underage) that is accessible to you.  If you have a problem with your computer (since you don't want anyone looking) why are you on here posting it to everyone?
