I am currently on probation for small amount of marijuana (midemeanor charge) I was sentenced to 1 year on. I will be getting off on August 30th of this year. I have no more meetings with my probation officer, but my question is, is that i want to go on vacation for 4 days out of state. i have never failed a urine test, and have been to all of my meetings. i was just wondering if anyone knows if probation officers are strict about that since its in 2 weeks and i get off probation in a month, i dont know if she will allow me to go on vacation. The Pennsylvania rules are, are that you must get permission from your probation officer 24 hours in advanced on where you will be going if its out of state and you plan to stay for more then 24 hours. does anyone know if i will have a problem? i dont want to ask and her say no and have to cancel my plans I KNOW I HAVE TO ASK SO IF ANYONE IS GUNNA MAKE SMART *** REMARKS ABOUT HOW I SHOULDA JUST STAYED OUT OF TROUBLE THEN DONT SAY ANYTHING because i have NOT gotten into trouble in over a year and dont PLAN on doing anything stupid i learned my lesson im now just asking a QUESTION i dont need smart *** remarks.

thanks

  1. ask immediatly the sooner the notice the better and if possible bring up that one you will be off probation 2 weeks after and that you have abided all the rules of your probation up and through now

  2. Hello Dee. Since you have been following all your sanctions, the likelyhood of your PO granting an out of state vacation that close to the end of your probation would more than likely be granted.

I just want to add that you could be violated up to the last day you are on probation. This is NOT the time to do something that can jeopardize you and reinstate your original sentence.

Ask your PO as early as possible so you will know whether you can make your plans.

Best of luck to you and I hope this can be useful

  3. Only your probation officer knows for sure.

Making an exception could set a precedent that your PO doesn't want to deal with.. if they make an exception for you, then the next guy may only have two months left, the next guy six months... and on and on.
