could you please tell me do i have to let my probation officer know if my car was repoed ?

  1. I would. The probation officer probably cares less about you not being able to make a car payment than he does about you having no transportation.

    If he calls you and tells you to be at his office immediately, it would help you for him to know your car's gone.

If you're worried that your probation will be violated for a repo, don''t be.  That's not a criminal violation.  Even if the loan company does sue you in court for the remainder of the value, that's still a civil action, not a criminal one.  You can tell your PO or not tell him, your choice.  Personally, I would, just so that he'd know the circumstances I was under.  The worst he could do is give you some shít about financial responsibility, but he can't require you to have a car.
