If the outcome of someone's case was "probation reinstated," does that mean they got out? Or could they possibly have had jail time?

  1. they were never in, they violated their original probation agreement and a new probation with additional guidelines was put into affect.

  2. In some cases, the defendant may be sentenced to only part of their suspended jail time.  After they serve that, their probation would be reinstated and they would continue on it for the rest of their time.  They could also be given some other form of punishment, for example, house arrest or community service.  In that situation, the court may reinstate, or extend the probaiton.
