Problem Connecting Laptop to TV?

Hi! I just bought an RCA to VGA cable and tried connecting my laptop to the TV but I'm not getting any picture onto the TV all I can hear is a "Tick" sound. Anyway, I connected my laptop by using the RCA to VGA cable then connected them again to an RCA to RCA cable then connected the other end of the RCA to a RCA to Scart. Did I do something wrong? Also I tried enabling the "2 displays" on my laptop. Can anyone suggest how can I make this all work? Please... Thank you! =)

  1. my laptop has a function key that I hit, I think its F4, to send the video signal to the TV.  The function key has a monitor icon on it.  I also had to make sure that the TV video source was set to the TV AND NOT THE CABLE BOX.  After I learned these 2 things it was a snap.

  2. You may have to change the settings in your computer to output a YPbPr signal and not the RGB default. Also try just hooking up the component section, if you can't you may be out.

I would provide more detail on your exact hook up, right now it is somewhat cobbled up.
