After I extract the font from the zipped folder, I drag it into my fonts thing in the control panel, and when i drop it in it says "the [font name here] file is currently being used and cannot be replaced. wait until windows has finished using this file, and then try again."

i once used winzip but deleted it from my computer because i realized i didnt need it.

what can i do to download free fonts? i get the fonts from dafont.com if that helps. (:

THANK YOU!

  1. You have to install the font. Go to control panel -> fonts and then press file -> install fonts, and browse to the area where you extracted the files. Good luck!

  2. After you extract the new fonts, the file goes in C:\Windows\Fonts folder should be a .ttf or .otf file

  3. Carly,

To add a new font to your computer:

    1.   Open Fonts in Control Panel.

    2.   On the File menu, click Install New Font.

    3.   In Drives, click the drive you want.

    4.   In Folders, double-click the folder that contains the fonts you want to add.

    5.   In List of fonts, click the font you want to add, and then click OK. To add all of the listed fonts, click Select All, and then click OK.

P.S.   I got this information from the Help and Support Center on my PC. I found it by typing "add a font" in the Search box and the topic was listed as "Add a new font to your computer". It should be your first result.

  4. that message means that the file or program it's opened in is in use and that you should close it.  Similar to when you insert a thumbdrive and you have a file open in it and when you want to eject it safely it won't let you because it'll say something like "cannot be removed, currently in use"

close 'everything' that is open. and try drag the file into the fonts folder in the control panel again.
