Ok here is my problem.

First i installed a wireless nic without anyones help as no one would give me a straight answer.

Just a 'could you give more details or this and that' and i had to read forums which actually answered straightaway rather than asking questions non stop. And my threads had more detail!

Ok anyways. I have bell sympatico modem which is DSL.

I installed the external wireless card fine as it finds wireless networks fine and mine is listed there.

Now the problem is is that when i put in the key it looks like it's connected.

But internet does not work as i get page cannot be found or whatever error. I did an ifconfig and it gave me an (169).

I resetted my modem and it actually wont let me try without a key to see if it'll let me connect fine. In the MAC filter option i have it checked as disbaled to allow all computers.

Now because it's DSL do i have to do anything different? Beginner Linux User Help! And please if u dont know the answer dont bother

  1. you'll need to install the .inf from the driver folder. Add and i'll help you same as the others. They are all easy issues that can be fixed.
