Hi,
We have recently purchased an ASUS laptop and a JVC GZ-MG135AA Digital Camcorder. When I connect the two via USB, the laptop recognises the camera after I select "connect to device" on the camcorder. The problem arises after the data has downloaded from the camcorder to the laptop. When I go to play any of the movies, Windows Media Player responds with an message saying that it can't recognise the file format. The file format that the movies are in is .MOD. I go to web help and don't really make much progress after that as I am unable to find a reference to .MOD files. I myself have never actually heard of this particular file format. The issue I believe is the fact that we have Windows Vista Professional. I have downloaded the videos successfully (they download as .MPEG) onto my family's PC at home which has Windows XP. All I can think is that for some reason the JVC camcorder is not compatible to Windows Vista and the file format doesn't not come across in a format recognisable by Windows Media Player. Is there a program that can be downloaded so that Windows Media Player can recognise a .MOD file? Or is there some way of changing the file format from .MOD after it's downloaded? Some guidance/help would be greatly appreciated as this has been a most frustrating experience (of which I have tried many times over!). Many thanks, Sarah Bassett
