I have a Samsung 42" hdtv, i just got it yesterday and today I got the HD cable box for my cablevision. Now here is where the problem starts. when I hook the coax from the wall to the hd cable box its fine. then i hooked one side of the HDMI cable to the cable box and when I went to plug the other side of the HDMI cable to my hdtv this kinda big spark came up and scared the living h**l out of me and a little bit of the hdmi input on the hdtv melted. Why is this occuring? I had a regular tv before and when i would hook my regular cable box to it nothing wrong would happen. Now this is happening to me. Please help.

  1. Very unusual...I would call your cable company right away. Have them come out and take a look at the box. Somehow either your tv or box had a short in it. They can best determine what's going on. Never heard of this happening though.

  2. I had this happen to a customer once.  Apparently the problem was in the cable box with the power source.  I had my customer call the cable company at the store and they shipped him another HD cable box free of charge.  Just give them a call and explain the situation.
