Problem hooking to the net with my new computer?

i have a new computer and plan on still using the old one also. i cant hook up the new computer to my existing yahoo account. i called the company and they told me i would need to buy a modem like the one i had to purchase on the old computer cuz the internal modem stopped working. WHAT??? i pay 30 a month and now i have to pay another 30? i explained to them the new computer has a perfectly good modem. so i think i want to cancel the sbc net and get aol or something. some one please help???

  1. Get a router and hook that up.  You can connect the modem to the router, and plug your computers into the router.  This allows you to have both pc's connected at the same time.


  2. Wow, your still using dial up??  Kudos to your patients.

    What they are telling you is total bull.  It doesn't matter what computer or modem you have, they will both work with all your existing accounts.  You just need to configure your new machine, and they should tell you the changes you have to make.

  4. u just need to setting the modem, there an option on the modem that can share the internet connection with other computer. dont buy a router, if u only connet 2 pc u can connect just using a crossfire rj45 (if i not mistaken).
