Problem hooking up hdtv to dvr then surround sound?

How do i hook up my hdtv to my dvr cable company box then from thare to my sourround sound i have all my cables i have hdmi cables my audio cables please help in how to hook it all up Thanks it is a rca surround sound

  1. Hello! I will give you basic directions to accomplish your task with basic components, of course. Yours may be different. Your HDTV should have an HDMI input, and if your cable box has an HDMI output, you can use your HDMI cable, and select which input on the tv to use (ex, HDMI 1, 2, etc)

    Put your cable inputs into your cable box as well. If your box does not have an HDMI output, just use a standard COAX cable wire to the tv, or even rca video jacks.

    There are now two ways you can hook it up to your surround sound system. If your television has Audio output, you can run cords from your tv to the surround, and even mute the speakers on your tv in the tv's menu so the only sound coming is from your surround system. OR if your cable box has audio outputs, you could run cords directly from your cable box to your surround system. Hope this helps! :)
