Problem installing Microsoft XP Service Pack 3

Question

I am currently trying to install Service pack 3 on to my system but everytime I try it always freezes at the same point. At the point it freezes it always says ' running processes after install '. The update just stays at the point and does not finish up.

I have no Anti virus programs running on the computer and the update has been succesful on other computer in my household. I have tried the update in normal mode and in safe mode but this does not make any difference the update stops at the same point.

My system specs are:
Intel Pentium D 9502GB DDR2 Memory400GB 7200 SATA rpm Hard DiskMicrosoft Windows XP Home Edition

Would appreciate any help on the situation.
