a student uses his car as a taxu..it costs the student $693.00 to insure his car for the 4months he drove as a taxi driver. he spends $452 per month on gas. if he lives with his parents and has no other expenses for those 4 months and charges an average of 7.00 per fare, how many fares will he have to get to be able to pay his expenses and his tuition of $3280?

  1. 452 per month

    in 4 months he needs 452*4 = 1808.

    total costs: 693+1808+3280 = 5781

    5781 /7= 825. 85

    so he needs a minimum 826 fares.  


  2. How about showing the work on this one

    Total expenses = insurance + gas + tuition

    =693 + 452 *4 + 3,280

    =5,781

    Fares = total expenses/per fare charge

    =5,781/7

    =825.857

    So you need 826 fares to cover it all

  4. 452 x 4 =1808 (because it is for 4 months)

    693 you dont multiply because it is this amount for the 4 months

    so...

    1808+693+3280= 5781

    5781/7 divided by 7 = 825.86.

    Rounded up 826
