Problem strumming guitar help!!!?

Question

when i strum or like struming let say the A chord.(i been play guitar for only a week) i strum down starting on the 5th string but when i strum up i sometime accidentilly strum the 6th string with it, same goes for the D chords.

that is gonna happen for a long time. pay attention to the strings you press with your fret hand, and try only hitting those strings. go even further with it and learn all of the notes in the chord you play... what can the chord do without? rember the more notes a chord has the more chance there is to hit a bad note. keep it simple for now and practice with a METRONOME!

Yeah man, that just takes practice to work out, only you can fix that. Just keep working at it, even when it seems like you can never do it.
