  1. My best guess is there could be a problem with the litter box.  Like it being too small for the cat to comfortably lift its tail to p**p.  That would be of course if it was a covered or enclosed litter box.

If this might be the case you could try taking the top off, but if it is just an open litter pan I am really not sure

    Good Luck

  2. Well, it sounds weird but I give my two cats 3 or 4 litterboxes in the basement all next to each other and they pee in one and p**p in the others. So, if you give yours 2 or 3 then maybe it will pee in one and p**p in the other(s) just like mine does. I don't know why they do it, and I don't really care, if giving them more to choose from keeps it off the floor. That is the important thing, right? So try it.

  3. Why not try using a covered cat litter tray? Then she cannot do it over the side, beware though, some cats find them hard to use, and one of mine is deathly scared of it so I had to go back to the ol' fashioned version.

    How old is your cat?

I may update this answer later so please check back, once you have responded. x

It might sound a bit mad, but do you think she wants to do the the two different things in two places, could you not have one tray for number ones and one tray for number twos.

Have you tried moving her in to the tray when she does it in the wrong place?
