I recently bought a motorcycle battery and it came w/ the acid in a seperate container, it has a red cap which isn't clear how I open it and a small spike on the other end which the palstic tube fits around. Now do I cut off the end of the spike (which means I can't reseal it again) or is there a special way to open the red cap?

  1. The battery should have come with directions.

    Follow the directions.

If they weren't included, contact the manufacturer of the battery and ask for a copy.

  2. ME is correct.

Fill the battery on your work bench, then hook it up to your trickle charger. You can usually charge 2amps per hour, so if you have a 20 amp battery, leave it n charger for 10 hours.

If you do not fully charge battery, you are throwing away your money.

And by the way, don't wipe your hands on your pants or you will get the battey acid look.

  3. he's right, there should be just enough and you shouldn't need to reseal anything.

  4. The amount of acid should be just enough for the battery, so you should have no need to reseal it. If there is any excess, do not keep it, dispose of it carefully.

They are deadly serious when they advise you to wear goggles. It's not just health and safety c**p, this stuff is nasty.

  5. poke it with a needle
