My 93 grand am will start and run fine until its driven about twenty miles. Then when slowing down car will jerk and come to a stop. The car will then start back up fine but will die when put back into gear. I was first told that it may be the fuel filter witch i replaced but the problem remained.

  1. torque converter soleonoid is bad and needs replaced, it's inside the tranny, if you want to find out for sure that it's the problem all you have to do is unplug the wiring harness that goes into the tranny and the car will act fine again, the only thing is you won't have overdrive out on the highway.

  2. GET RID OF THAT CAR. my mom had a 93 grand am and it ended up costing her almost $8000 in repairs. One thing after another goes wrong with those cars. SELL IT while you still can!

  3. The torque converter solenoid for the transmission is probably bad
