Problem with Canon Powershot A590IS digital camera?

I'm trying to transfer the pictures I took with the camera to the computer. I have a Windows XP. I already inserted the CD that came with it and installed everything. Now I followed the directions and connected the camera to the computer with a USB cable. The usual "Found New Hardware Wizard" popped up. And then an error came up. The error says: "The file 'ptpusd.dll' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed." Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

If you are unable to solve the software-hardware mystery of connecting your camera, get a USB card reader.

Using a USB card reader will allow you to mount the SD memory card as a removable drive, from which you can download your images directly.

I have the A590IS, but haven't got the issue you describe here.
