  1. try a new TV

then go to best buy and ask them to repair it

if all else fails, then its the DVD player itself.

buy a new one if thats the case

  2. its gotta be the tv. 5 yrs is too old for tv. LOL! get a new one.

  3. Do you have the same issue when plugging anything else into the television?  If not, than it is most definitely the dvd player.  You can get a new player for around $20 these days, so I would just try replacing that.

If other components don't work on the tv, than there is something wrong with your television.  Try other inputs as well.  If you can decide that it is the tv, than you will need to replace that.  A 19" tv is cheaper to buy than fix.

  4. It could be the tv or the DVD player has a malfunction in it, I've had my tv for 8 years and it works fine with my DVD, and it to is a 19inch, or maybe its both the TV and DVD Player
